Fares Zaitoon – فارس زيتون

Born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, Fares Zaitoon is a self-taught visual and performing artist. As a child, he was captivated by the power of visual elements, finding them to be a medium through which the human mind comprehends ideas and emotions more readily. In 2016, he embarked on his artistic journey after overcoming a period of drug addiction. He made the bold decision to leave university and devote his full attention to creating art, honing his focus on subjects that resonated deeply with him.

His work began to shed light on pressing issues such as drug addiction and mental illness, drawing inspiration from the unfiltered and intense experiences of his community. Since then, his projects have delved into profoundly personal and often obscured realms, seeking to translate universal emotions into a unique visual language of his own.

فنان بصري علم نفسه بنفسه، وُلد فارس زيتون ونشأ في القاهرة بمصر.  منذ طفولته، جذبته قوة العناصر البصرية، حيث وجد أنها وسيلة تساعد العقل البشري على إدراك الأفكار والمشاعر بسرعة أكبر. في عام ٢٠١٦، بدأ رحلته الفنية بعد أن تجاوز فترة من التعافي من إدمان المخدرات، واتخذ قراراً جريئاً بترك الجامعة والتفرغ بالكامل لممارسة الفن، مركزاً اهتمامه على موضوعات تمسّه بعمق.

بدأت أعماله تسلط الضوء على قضايا ملحّة مثل الإدمان والأمراض النفسية، مستلهماً تجارب مجتمعه الصادقة والمكثفة. ومنذ ذلك الحين، اتجهت مشاريعه نحو عوالم شخصية عميقة وغالباً ما تكون خفية، ساعياً إلى ترجمة المشاعر
الإنسانية المشتركة إلى لغة بصرية فريدة خاصة به.
