Islam Zaher

Islam Zaher is a contemporary Egyptian artist. He was born in March 1972.

From an early age, Zaher showed a high interest in art and paintings, graduating from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Zamalek, Cairo, in 1994.

Between 1995 and 1998, Zaher participated in several editions of the Youth Saloon, receiving several prizes, including the second prize of drawing in 1995 and two prizes in 1998, the Prize of the Jury and the International Critics Association (ICA) prize.

The artist participated in many local and international group shows, including 18 Artists from the Nineties Generation Show at the Jazirah Center of Arts, 1999; the Egyptian Culture Week in Sharjah, the UAE, 2000; and Eye on the West, 2007. Zaher also held four solo shows: Out of Vacuum, Karim Francis Espace, 2005, Intuited Happiness, Karim Francis Espace, 2010; Pink and Lamentation, Misr Gallery, 2015, Remnants of Enchantment, Gypsum Gallery, 2017,”Octagon” -Group show- Gallery Misr,2018, Beirut Art Fair,2018,”Myths and Magic” -Group show- Founoun Art Gallery, Beirut, Lebanon,2018 – “As I Am” -Group show- Gallery Misr, 2023.”Passive Constructions”, Gallery Misr 2020 – “THE SHADOW OF ABSENCE”, Gallery Misr 2023, “Arab Dialogue Vol. 1′ Gallery Misr, in collaboration with Art D’Egypte, at Dar Al Darb at the Salah Al-Din Citadel, Cairo, Egypt, 2024, Art Cairo sixth edition ــ Grand Egyptian Museum 2025, “Views of a Dystopian City” Gezira Art Centre 2025.

فنان مصري معاصر، من مواليد مارس ١٩٧٢، ولد «زاهر» ونشأ في القاهرة، مصر، وانشغل بالفن واللوحات منذ سن مبكرة.

تخرج في كلية الفنون الجميلة بالزمالك، القاهرة، ١٩٩٤، شارك فى العديد من دورات صالون الشباب منذ عام ١٩٩٥، حتى عام ١٩٩٨، وحصد العديد من جوائز الصالون منها الجائزة الثانية فى الرسم ١٩٩٥، وجائزتي لجنة التحكيم والاتحاد العالمي لنقاد الفن التشكيلي (الأيكا) ١٩٩٨.

شارك فى العديد من المعارض الجماعية المحلية والدولية: معرض ١٨ فناناً من جيل التسعينات ــ مركز الجزيرة للفنون، ١٩٩٩، معرض الأسبوع الثقافى المصرى بالشارقة، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، ٢٠٠٠، معرض عين على الغرب، ٢٠٠٧، «أوكتاجون» ــ قاعة جاليرى مصر، ٢٠١٨، بيروت «آرت فير»، ٢٠١٨، «السحر والأسطورة» – قاعة فنون، بيروت، لبنان، ٢٠١٨، «كما أنا – معرض جماعي» ــ قاعة جاليرى مصر، ٢٠٢٣؛ أقام اخمسة معارض فردية: »من فراغ» ــ قاعة كريم فرنسيس،٢٠٠٥،«سعادةُ منَتَظَرة» ــ قاعة  كريم فرنسيس، ٢٠١٠، «وردى ومراثى» ــ قاعة جاليرى مصر، ٢٠١٥، «ذاكرة الولع» ــ قاعة «چبسيوم»، ٢٠١٧ – «مبنى للمجهول» ــ قاعة جاليرى مصر، ٢٠٢٠، «ظل الغائب» ــ قاعة جاليرى مصر،٢٠٢٣،معرض  الحوار العربي- الإصدار الأول، جاليري مصر بالتعاون مع مؤسسة آرت دي ايچيبت، دار الضرب- قلعة صلاح الدين ، القاهرة ، مصر ٢٠٢٤، فن القاهرة النسخة السادسة ــ المتحف المصري الكبير ٢٠٢٥، «مشاهد من المدينة الآثمة» ــ مركز الجزيرة للفنون ٢٠٢٥.
